The Corstorphine Art Group Exhibition 2022

The Corstorphine Art Group Exhibition is back!

Paintings were submitted on Tuesday for this years exciting 60th annual exhibition, and our dedicated team of helpers have been busy sorting and hanging them for next weeks exhibition.

It appears that Covid hasn't dampened the enthusiasm of our members and they have all been busy with their brushes.  Here is a sneak preview of some of the impressive original paintings that will be on display.

We meet in St. Ninian’s Church Hall, entry from the carpark at the rear of the church, off St. Ninian’s Road, EH12 8AP. Our meetings start at 7pm with a practical demonstration, each topic planned to show the use of a variety of techniques and using different media by an accomplished Artist. On two meetings per syllabus, members can bring one or two paintings, either framed or unframed and part or fully completed, for a critical assessment by a professional Artist. Advice will be given on mounting, framing and overall presentation. These evenings are very popular, being educational for all present. Also, on these evenings, our members
choose the Poster painting for the Annual Exhibition. At all meetings we have an active video camera, projector and large screen. We normally close the meetings with tea, coffee and biscuits and a chance to chat to each other (temporarily suspended with present Covid restrictions.) We support C H A S at the tea table.

There are two club trophies, presented annually, The Belle Kilgour Memorial Trophy and the Earl Douglas Award. These trophies are much sought after and are presented at the A G M in October. All visitors to the Annual Exhibition are encouraged to vote for their favourite painting in the hall and the winners of these trophies are determined by this public vote.

This year is the Diamond (60th) Anniversary of Corstorphine Art Group founded by Belle Kilgour D A in 1962. Members, this year, have been invited to enter a painting competition reflecting these 60 years. There is a prize for the winner, judged by the Exhibition Selector for the Annual Exhibition.

If you wish to join our club, contact Anne Henderson, our Treasurer at  As a new member, there is a joining fee of £5.00 (a one off for this part year of the syllabus shown,) giving you the opportunity to come to each meeting and to participate in the 2022 Exhibition as a new member to exhibit 2 framed entries. Your entries must be original work (no copies or digital art) which will be assessed by the Exhibition Selector, a Professional Artist who organises the hanging of the Exhibits.

If you wish to come to an occasional meeting, there is a £3.00 charge per evening. Since we are all subject to Covid restrictions, attendance capacity is limited to 28 persons in the hall. If you wish to book your visit, contact Anne Henderson, details as above. We practise track and trace and advise lateral flow testing prior to the visit.

As a member, another opportunity not to be missed is to show your art on this website. Our Web Master can display these images for you and facilitate the sale of these paintings if requested.

I hope you have enjoyed your visit to our website. Come to our Exhibition this Summer.
